As FB isn't working (no surprise there) I thought I'd post up the last few posts that I sent to Tom to catch up with. As Alaa/Jazzie would like to join in I wondered if we could somehow carry on wither on this RP day or follow on a new one.
Sadly I can't retrive the last few posts about the OoTP but as soon as I get them we can throw that in too.
This is still Sunday of the first week.. bottom of pg 169
• Erin smiled as Ganny gave her his coat, he was such a gent, his shirt was quickly becoming soaked through, but he didn't seem to notice, he was one of those guys who looks really manly in a shirt with the sleeves rolled up, like her own wee lumberjack coming to the rescue.
She shook her head... he'd told her to do something, but it took a moment to register "Oh yeah of course" she held out her wand and muttered ~engorgio~, the sweater quickly became more like a sheet.
Kneeling down she saw the confusion on Olli's face "We're going to try and lift you there, just hold still a second" She gently placed her hands onto his ribcage and muttered ~episkey~ "There that might help ease some of the pain" she set the sweater down on the muddy ground and frowned... she'd need help lifting him, magic would be too unsafe to lift him with.
• Returning to Erin with the second broom in hand, he was surprised at how quickly she had formulated a similar idea.
Catching his breath back and flinging the trails of wet fringe of off his face, he laid Olli’s broom out beside his fallen body at a forty five degree angle with the bristles pointing towards his head and hurried around to do the same with his own broom on the opposite side.
The jumper was now several times the size compared to what it once was and although maybe too long in the sleeves, would only mean making minor adjustments to the stretcher plan.
“Ok here’s the plan if I can gently tuck my hand under him at several intervals along stronger parts of his body, you can slide the sleeve through and slowly pull it free on the other side. As long as we can get one arm out to half way we shouldn’t actually need to move him and can let the brooms take the majority of the weight!. Once we’re under him with the jumper we can pass the two broomsticks handle first down the neck and out the sleeves. If they are too long or the neck to wide we might have to make some last minute adjustments...”
Pausing for a brief moment, he glanced at Erin and wondered again what she was thinking..
“With the two bristle bunches crossed, they should rest and support each other whilst we take the weight of the corners of the bottom to pull it along...Even if it’s only a few inches off the ground it’s the best I have right now...”
Stretching his right arm out to check its movement, a pain shot out from his shoulder but he gritted his teeth to try and force back the pain.
• Peter listened to Callie's words and looked down. He knew that it was true. It would be too much to risk Callie coming along, but Peter could always ask one of her siblings. "Its alright, Cal. I'm sorry to put you in this position."
• Callie shrugged with a frown. It was nothing new, just one of those things she had to accept. Turning her head slightly she noticed Serena trying to skirt around the edge of the room carrying what appeared to be a pillow. <And they think I’m the messed up one...>
“I haven’t seen my brother but unfortunately my sister is over there” she replied gesturing with a head nod in Serena’s direction. “oh and...I’m sorry aswell...”
• Seth found a few books he was thinking might help his studies, but couldn't find much on Forbidden forest trees except the tomes that covered all of trees, both magical and non-magical. Feeling his stomach rumble a bit, Seth decided lunch would be wise.
Checking the books in his hand out, Seth headed downstairs. He was nearly down to the ground level when he heard some voices.
• Peter couldn't help but wonder if he just caused disappointment and sadness for Callie. She always was depressed.
Looking up, he saw Serena and he shrugged when she mentioned about Ganny. "I haven't seen him either. I can ask either of them. Maybe one of them would want to join. The offer stands if you change your mind," said Peter with a weak smile, aware she probably wouldn't take him up on it.
• Having continued in a more cheerful mood down the corridor, and out into the large entrance way beneath the many flights of moving staircases, Juliet had put to the back of her mind the worry of a potential underlying issue with Lance’s background and had broke out in a sudden conversation regarding their next Herbology assignment that she had quickly flipped around into her favour to discuss what magical creatures were associated with the various choices of plant.
“You could always write about Thanglethorns..” She suggested, grinning “Olvailder Snide talks about it in his latest biography, he encountered the recently discovered species..I say recently this was about seven years ago on his trip to Peru...They like the warmer climate you see and...”
As Juliet continued to express her knowledge, Lance found his mind slightly wandering and he wasn’t quite focusing on what she was telling him. <Why couldn’t Vixie be sincere all the time? Did she really want to help Jules or did she have some ulterior motive..>
“LANCE!” Juliet scolded stopping in front of him “Were you listening? What creature did I just say makes a habit of nesting in Thanglethorns?”
Bemused and slightly caught off guard by her choice to quiz him, Lance looked back at her and uncomfortably laughed trying to mock the question.
“What the hell is a Thanglethorn? Did you just honestly make that up...?”
• “I Know” Callie expressed trying to pick up on his weak smile “I honestly wanted to protect you..They’ll still be out there but I hope you’ll be safe”. Raising her hand she gently placed it on his forearm “Take care of the others..”
• Seth could hear a few of the words and he began thinking, <Thanglethorn? What the bloody hell is a Thanglethorn?>, he thought to himself. Coming further down the stairs, Seth walked to the ground level expanse that leads to the Great Hall.
__________
Peter nodded and said, "its not my intention to cause any of my friends harm. You know that. I'll keep them safe, but having one of your siblings along would be at least a bit comforting."
• Waving her hands in an expressive ‘I can’t believe you don’t know’ gesture, Juliet promptly thrust them onto her hips and glanced at Lance disapprovingly.
“Streelers is the answer..a sub species that are purely red or brown in colour have colonized a whole patch of over grown Thanglethorn and has adapted to live in harmony with their venomous secretions. The plant cells that make up the outer layer of bark is being looked at by top researchers to see if it can be put to similar uses in the magical community..I’m not sure if even shops in Knockturn Alley would supply it..But there we go...and by the way Olvailder Snide is a very good upcoming author maybe you could add that onto your list of things to read after fully digesting Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them”.
“Alright!” Lance frowned, nudging her out the way and pushing forwards into the open space “I will actually attempt to read it next time I find it from where I..”
“It’s tucked down the foot of your bed remember?..and If you can’t find it..” Juliet began, itching to announce that he could have one of her many space copies if he promised not to mishandle, bend the spine or graffiti in it.
<Leprechauns’ look so much more interesting with moustaches> he sighed, pressing forwards towards the Great Hall doors.
• “I’m sure one, if not both of them will aid you in your cause...” Callie spoke glancing up at the blackened sky scene overhead “You aren’t going today are you? The weather looks like it’s in for most of the afternoon..”
• Peter nodded and looked up at the sky. "It looks so rainy right now. I'm thinking if it doesn't clear up, we could go first thing tomorrow morning." Deep down, Pete hoped she would change her mind, but he knew she most likely wouldn't.
• “Oh..” Callie mumbled, dropping her hand that was resting on Peter’s arm by her side “You’d better get asking then, otherwise you won’t have much time.. I’ll see you around..”
As her voice trailed off, she slowly passed by Peter and headed towards the door.
------------------------------------------------------------
Hearing footsteps on the stone stairs behind her, Juliet spun around and beamed delightedly to see Seth with an armful of books before her. “SETH!” She called out, grinning before hurrying across the short gap between them “I thought you’d still be with Peter..”
Back by the doors, Lance wasn’t as impressed as Juliet was to see Seth appear but he didn’t glare and just watched to note their interactions.
• Peter nodded and said, "I'll talk to ya later." He wasn't sure if she actually heard him, but just watched her walk away. Taking a breath in and letting it out, he wondered why she always made him sad after she spoke to him.
______
Seth heard Juliet yell out, and turned, with his arm full of books and saw Juliet cover the distance between them. "Hey, baby-doll," he said with a smile. "What'cha doing down here?" he asked.
• Juliet paused with a blank expression at the sound of Seth’s question “I..erm..” she stuttered. She couldn’t really mention Vixie or Shawn as that would end up provoking further questions that she’d have to dig herself out of..But what else could she tell him.. “I was..”
“She was with me..” Lance called out, raising his head to look in their general direction before assertively pacing the short distance to stand off to one side of Juliet. “There was a small, controlled incident down the corridor that involved an escaped Flobberworm. It must have been released from its holding tank by one of the Slytherins.."
Pausing for a brief second, Lance straightened his back to try and reduce the height difference between himself and Seth “And since I sit in front of your girlfriend here in magical creatures I know she’s the local expert and would want to be the first on the scene to take a closer look at the escaped blighter..Isn’t that right Jules?”
<What is he doing?> Juliet thought, mildly panicking before catching a glance of Lance’s confident expression.
“Yeah..It was trapped in the girls bathroom poor thing but it’s safely back where it belongs” she finished, returning back to her enthusiastic smile desperately hoping Seth wasn’t going to interrogate their nearly truthful story.
“OH..I’m sorry manners went out the window there.. Seth this is Lance, he’s in both my Herbology and Magical Creatures classes and is one of the very few people to actually take notice of my knowledge.. Lance this is...”
“I got it Jules” Lance interrupted not trying to come across rudely “But thanks, I know who Carr..Seth is. Being an avid reader of the Daily Prophet it doesn’t leave much to get to know in person but...”
Sticking his hand out towards Seth in a handshake gesture he knew he was doing this for Juliet’s sake not his own.
Quickly realising that Seth had hold of a armful of books he withdrew his hand and knocked some fallen loose curls off of his forehead “Nevermind..”
“So how did it go with Peter? I thought you’d have been with him all afternoon?” Juliet asked trying to take the conversation in another direction.
• Seth repositioned one of the books and kept the bundle in his hands. "Gotcha, Jules," he said to Lance's addition on Juliet's sentence. After the nearly truthful story, Seth said, "Sounds exciting for you. Who else besides the Magical Creatures Professor has Flobberworms?"
Seth nods as Juliet introduces Lance and Lance then offers his hand for a hand-shake but Seth looks down at all of the books in his hands. "Have to take a rain-check on that, Lance," he added with a chuckle. Then Juliet asks about Peter. Seth shook his head and just said, "I don't think it was a whole afternoon planned thing."
• Juliet raised her eyebrows in mild surprise “I guess the professor..I’d love to describe most of the Slytherin students that inhabit near the dungeons as Flobberworms but that’s a little polite considering the majority are somewhat more beastly”
Lance tilted his head questioning Juliet’s reply <Was that meant to be an insult?>.
Studying Seth’s expression as she continued to talk he wondered what he was thinking. <Oh I don’t think it was a whole afternoon planned thing..You know how it is Jules.. An afternoon jolly with Peter followed by a dash of tea and a crumpet>.
Shuddering slightly at the thought of having imagined the worst stereotypical British accent, he frowned and turned his attention to back to Juliet. It was becoming clear that Seth didn’t exactly share her full enthusiasm for magical creatures’ knowledge but the way they spoke and shared eye contact it was obvious there was more beneath the surface.
“It wasn’t?” Juliet questioned leaning away from talking about mucus producing worms “So why was it so urgent? Couldn’t you talk about it in the common room later on?”
Catching a glance of Lance sighing and looking sullen, Juliet turned quickly and gave him a short side smile before waiting for Seth’s answer.
It was in the brief moment of exchanging the quick glance with Juliet that made Lance realise that she actually shared a similarity with Vixie, both were highly escalated young women in their own individual social standing that he barely stood any chance of being involved with either of their lives in any way, shape or form. Everything about himself was a facade, a living lie that he shamefully wore just to fit in with his peers. Juliet didn’t need to, she was lucky... and at this very moment in time very much out of his league......Most pure bloods probably were.
• Seth listened to Juliet and nodded. "Must be a Slytherin," he added, then quickly saying to Lance, "no-offense." <Lance would have to admit...some of his housemates could and would do such a thing.>
Even though Seth didn't share Jules' fascination with magical creatures, he couldn't deny that he didn't like magical creatures.
Shrugging, he said, "Apparently it wasn't a very long meeting. What are ya up to now?" Seth asked the duo.
• Lance sneered back at Seth “None taken..” he mumbled thinking to himself <It’s not as if the scenario is actually true and at least members of Slytherin house actually have the nerve to go against the rules should the need arise. Goody Gryffindor’s won’t get very far on peace, love and popularity>.
Suspicious, Juliet tilted her head and gave Seth and inquisitive look. Turning the situation around she found herself being the one wanting to ask questions. “If the meeting was a ‘short’ why wasn’t I invited?” she asked.
Expecting a decent answer, she placed her hands on her hips and began to conclude “I know Peter wasn’t best pleased to see me the other day... Did he say anything to you about me? Is there something you aren’t telling me about this ‘meeting’?”
Twitching in surprise, Lance hadn’t expected Juliet to turn the tables on innocent Seth and make it come across like she was actually the victim. Raising his eyebrows, he bore a taken back expression. Whilst on one hand he was relieved not to be in Seth’s shoes, on the other was more concerned about the way Juliet was suddenly reacting. <Was she playing him wanting information? Did she really not trust the nature behind the get together with Peter?...>
However boring playing heroes and sidekicks all day must be..He understood something wasn’t adding up. If she continued to pressurise the person that she claimed she cared about unnecessarily then she’d end up being the one to feel hurt.
• Feeling satisfied that her orange was peeled correctly; Gen scanned the table looking for the fruit bowl. Wide eyed and gleaming she spotted a small bunch of ripe bananas perched on top of a display of rosy red and green British Cox apples.
Taking her plate in hand, she shuffled down a few empty spaces closer towards Kalina and pulled her selected fruit off of the bunch.
“So how are things going?” Gen announced loud enough so Kalina would hear, “I’ve heard things aren’t so great between you and Alex?”. Whilst waiting for a response, she cut her banana into sections without unpeeling it.
“What’s it got to do with you anyway?” Kalina answered avoiding making any eye contact with Gen “Things between us are fine..There’s just a few wrinkles that haven’t been ironed out..yet”.
“Really?...I bet he doesn’t come to you for comfort when he finds out that they are down another Chaser later?” Gen enquired whist sneering at a moist brown bruise on the side of one of her freshly peeled banana segments and still not making any eye contact with Kalina. “Let’s see if Peter knows about it”...
Twisting her body, Kalina glared at Gen as she stood up from her chair and energetically yelled across the room calling after Peter. Noticing many heads turning to look in her direction, she giggled and returned to her seated position.
• Erin frowned "Surely it would be easier if we put each broom down one side of the sweater, and lifted him like he was on one of those muggle stretchers?" she laid the brooms down parallel to each other "like this" she knelt down and started stuffing them into the sweater, she turned round to Ganny "Hey don't just stand there give me a hand"
* Tristan chuckled and tried to humour Erin by raising his left hand and waving it at her. “Only really got one here..I’m doing my best!”.
Her idea made the most sense, but in his condition there was no way he’d be able to take the weight of one end of the make shift structure to support Olli.
Shifting the broom back at an angle, he was determined to stick to his idea.
“I’m not going to be able to stabilise one end..” he called back across to Erin over the loud sound of the wind “We have to utilise the natural shape of the jumper and let the crossed brooms at the end take his head weight that I currently can’t support alone..Trust me Erin, I don’t want to let him get hurt anymore than he already is”.
Feeling his soaked shirt stick tightly across his back, Tristan hung his head. He was trying his hardest but it just didn’t feel enough.
Sadly I can't retrive the last few posts about the OoTP but as soon as I get them we can throw that in too.
